O trio formado pelo dinamarquês Kevin Magnussen, o suíço Raffaele Marciello e o belga Dries Vanthoor, no BMW M Hybrid V8 #15 do BMW M Team WRT, conquistou a pole-position para a 94ª edição das 24 Horas de Le Mans, no Circuito de la Sarthe, na França, terceira etapa do Campeonato Mundial de Endurance (FIA WEC).
Magnussen/Marciello-D.Vanthoor herdaram a pole após o Cadillac V-Series R #38 da Cadillac Hertz Team Jota ser punido, perdendo a volta mais rápida. O britânico Jack Aitken havia conquistado a pole, sendo apenas 0s005 mais rápido do que Magnussen. Mas segundo os comissários Aitken não obedeceu ordens da direção de prova no começo da sessão. Com a melhor volta anulada o carro #38 de Aitken/Sébastien Bourdais/Earl Bamber largada na décima posição.
