O italiano Giancarlo Fisichella, da Reanult, foi o 2º mais rápido, seguido pelo brasileiro Felipe Massa. O espanhol Fernando Alonso, da Renault, fechou em 4º, com o alemão Michael Schumacher, da Ferrari, duas posições depois.
Rubens Barrichello, da Honda e Ricardo Zonta, piloto de testes da Toyota, foram 9º e 12º, respectivamente.
