IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: Mazda vence pela primeira vez

O trio Olivier Pla/Jonathan Bomarito/Harry Tincknell, no Mazda DPi #55 da Mazda Team Joest, venceu neste domingo (30/06) a Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, no Watkins Glen International, sexta etapa do IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Foi a primeira vitória do Mazda DPi na categoria.

Pla/ Bomarito/Tincknell cruzaram a linha de chegada, após seis horas de disputa, e 221 voltas, com apenas 0s353 de vantagem sobre os parceiros de equipe Oliver Jarvis/Tristan Nunez/Timo Bernhard, no Mazda DPi #77, que alinhou na pole.

A dupla Dane Cameron/Juan Pablo Montoya (Acura Team Penske/Acura DPi) completou o pódio no geral, e na classe Prototype.

A dupla Renger Van Der Zande/Jordan Taylor (Konica Minolta/Cadillac DPi-V.R) terminou em quarto.

O brasileiro Hélio Castroneves (Acura Team Penske/Acura DPi), em dupla com Ricky Taylor, chegou em sexto.

Os brasileiros Felipe Nasr e Pipo Derani (Whelen Engineering Racing/Cadillac DPi), em trio com Eric Curran, terminou na oitava posição.

Pela classe LMP2 vitória do trio Matthew McMurry/Gabriel Aubry/Eric Lux (PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports/ORECA LMP2).

Pela classe GTLM vitória a dupla Nick Tandy/Patrick Pilet (Porsche GT Team/Porsche 911 RSR).

O trio Mario Farnbacher/Trent Hindman/Justin Marks (Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb-Agajanian/Acura NSX GT3) venceu na classe GTD.

A brasileira Bia Figueiredo (Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb-Agajanian/Acura NSX GT3), em trio com Katherine Legge/Christina Nielsen, terminou em quarto na classe GTD.

O brasileiro Felipe Fraga (Mercedes-AMG Team Riley Motorsports/Mercedes-AMG GT3), em trio com Ben Keating/Jeroen Bleekemolen, abandonou logo na primeira volta.

A próxima etapa, no Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, em Ontario, no Canadá, acontece no dia 07 de julho.
